You are listening to
"Le Torche" for
Brass Quintet,
4 trumpets,
and organ.

The World Premier was performed at the funeral of Ira Koger on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, Florida. "Le Torche" represents the passing on of the hope and the wisdom of previous generations to
to all future generations. The performance was dedicated to Ira Koger, a strong supporter of both the visual and performing arts as represented by the Ira & Nancy Koger Center for the Arts. The composition is dedicated to Roger L. Voisin, my father.

These five outstanding musicians perform selections ranging from renaissance and baroque to ragtime, pops and contemporary ensemble music with expanded instrumentation.  The Premier Brass performs not only formal and informal concerts but clinics and educational performances as well.  Special event performances include church services, weddings, grand openings, private parties and holiday celebrations.

The Premier Brass has appeared at St. James Episcopal Church for both the Christmas and Easter Services in 2005 and 2006. They have just completed an outdoor wedding at the beautiful Chatooga Club in Cashiers where our web site pictures were just taken.

Before beginning their local activities, the Premier Brass was founded in 1991 and origionally located in Jacksonville, Florida where they appeared at the following locations:

Orange Park's beautiful Club Continental,

Epping Forest,

The Jacksonville Landing for Arts Mania,

First United Methodist Church,

Penney Farms,

St. Mark's Episcopal Church and

St. Simon's Presbyterian Church for holiday concerts,

The Cummer Museum of Art

Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts groundbreaking ceremony. The Moran Fanfare was played at this Gala event

When Premier Brass began forming the ensemble, we origionally began rehearsing in Laura Steinke's livingroom when she lived in Jacksonville, Florida. This started out as a typical chamber music group that just got together to enjoy playing music.  We began exploring the many styles that a Brass Quintet could perform. Arrangements, bookings, and publicity followed and the rest (as "They" say) is history!
