Fanfare for the Family was written for and dedicated to the St. Johns River City Band in February of 2004. It was written to model Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man. It uses a series of fourth intervals
as a contrast to Copland who uses fourth's and fifth's. The Family is the most cherished and vital institutions
in civilization and this is a tribute to the love and devotion between spouses and children.
