Rehearsals:
At each meeting,
I propose that we begin with three breakout sessions #1, #2, & #3 (@ 7PM sharp).
We will need at least three rooms close together to do this. Then we will all get together for the final Combined
Session (@ 8 PM sharp) and rehearse for upcoming events such as the Trinity United Methodist performance, "Trumpet
Christmas", or local Asheville grand openings or festivals.
Breakout 1
will include the more experienced and advanced players. They will work on ensemble music, conducting, and developing a music
library for the organization. Session 1 is designed to give full-time players a chance to sight read, switch parts, and
improve their section and solo playing with other colleagues.
Breakout 2 will include
the jazz and improv players. They will work on jazz ensemble music, switch parts and discuss both solo and section techniques.
Famous solos of the jazz greats will be studied and played as well as improv sessions that will give players the opportunity
to take jazz "breaks" among themselves. Session 2 is designed to give jazz players a chance to study
the great jazz soloes, "sit in" on some solo "breaks" and have some fun!
Breakout 3 will include Students, Come-back Players, Weekend Warriors and visitors. Peter Voisin
will be leading warm-up drills, embouchure analysis, buzzing techniques, and weekly practice routines. Intonation and section
practice will also be offered. Session 3 is designed to jump-start the part-time player and get them stronger amd
more focused on their playing.
Combined Session will bring together all players and
will allow us to rehearse the ensemble repertoire for our upcoming performances. Peter will ask several of you to rotate
in and conduct one piece on the program. That way everyone can play, we can gain the benefit of many talented conductors,
and also spread the workload out evenly.
Meetings:
Meetings
will be held after our 2 breakout and combined session.
We will review old and new business, make decisions on
events, music, and publicity. We will take time to get to know each other and ask that we invite our friends to visit and
join us at future meetings and events!
